“Sharnègo” ezkontide mixtoen, euskaldun eta gaskoien, seme-alabei deritze, baita bi kulturak elkarbizi direneko lekuei ere. Batzuetan hitzari mesprezuzko zentzua ematen bazaio ere, geuk bere alde positiboena hartu nahi izan dugu: Xarnege bi kulturak ezagutu eta maite dituena da, bi eratara adieraz eta azal daitekeena. Ez du axola doinua nondik datorren, dantza urratsa nori bururatu zaion, musika-tresna nork asmatu duen... Garrantzitsuena zera da, itxuraz ezberdinak diren elementuetatik abiatuta elkarrekin sortu ahal izatea.
Disko honen helburua zuri muga zeharkatzen laguntzea da, euskal mugalariek eta kontrabandista gaskoiek ezkutuan egiten zuten moduan, eta gaueko lan musika apur bat erakustea.
Kontuz ibili eta isilik entzun ezazu. Baliteke aduanazainak gertu egotea...

Political frontiers have continually varied according to the vagaries of history. Towns, people and cultures have been divided. However, there have always been people ready to jump the barriers without permision. Culture smugglers, traffickers of languages, dances and traditions, dream dealers, have striven to meet and share the booty.
In the 'sharnègo' areas between Gascony and the Basque Country the two cultures have been able to live together and maintain their own spaces and their shared spaces. They have created different forms of expression from the same source. One could say that they naturally return to their Vascon past.
Xarnege is a meeting place not a mixture. A crossroads not a fence, a look to the future from the roots, not an inert museum. Everyone's and no-one's land. A place where you share and continue the nocturnal journey with your sack full of music.

On appelle “sharnègo” les enfants de mariages mixtes (basques et gascons), tout comme les régions où les deux cultures cohabitent. Bien que le terme ait parfois une connotation péjorative, nous avons voulu l’envisager sous son aspect le plus positif.. “Sharnègo” est celui qui connaît et aime les deux cultures, celui qui est capable de s’exprimer et de s’affirmer de deux manières. Il n’est pas important de savoir d’où provient telle mélodie, à qui est attribué tel pas de danse, qui a inventé tel instrument…
Ce qui compte c’est que nous soyons capables de faire des choses ensemble à partir d’éléments en apparence différents.
Ce disque a pour but de vous aider à traverser la frontière, comme le faisaient clandestinement les “mugalaris” basques ou les contrebandièrs gascons, et de vous faire découvrir la musique de contrebande.
Faites attention et écoutez en silence. Les douaniers ne sont pas très loin...
